Needed:

  • A vertical image (all the settings in this tutorial are for a vertical image, a horizontal one is NOT possible)

How to make it:

Open your image:

1. Resize, with these settings:



2. Enhance photo – Sharpen:



3.Image – Add borders, 40 with these settings:

*Click inside your image, with your right mouse button, to choose a dark color from your image with the pipette


4. Magic wand , and click inside your border

5. Effects – Plugins – Neology Filter Pack – TV-mania, with these settings:



6. Layer palette – click on your background layer and promote it to a raster layer

7. Effects – Plugins – LenK landsiteofwonders – L en K’s Dimitri, with these settings:



DO NOT DESELECT THE BORDER!!!

8. Effects – 3D effects – Buttonize, with these settings:



9. Selections – Select none

10. Image – Resize, with these settings (the width isn’t filled in because every image has different sizes and only the height counts on this lesson. Everyone will have a different size for width):



(If needed: sharpen, like you did before… “enhance photo – sharpen”)

11. Press the key combination Shift – D, to duplicate your created image.Put one of these two images aside for a while


Image 1:


In case your image is looking towards the left, when you look towards your screen, you will have to ‘mirror’ it first!!!!

12. Image – canvas size, with these settings:

On the option “placement”: press the left hand arrow, as in the preview


13. Choose two colors from your image: a light one for the foreground color and a dark one for the background



14. Magic wand, click on the transparent part of your image


15. Flood fill tool, fill with the light color


16. Selections – select none


17. Effects – Plugins – Alf’s Power Toys – Split distortion, with settings on 25


18. Magic wand, click on the background


19. Selections – Invert


20. Edit – copy


21. Open a new image with sizes 740 x 240, but first choose a gradient with these settings, and then remove the little vink on transparency (2nd image):



22. Effects – Plugins – Neology filter pack

TV-mania, with same settings as point 5

25. Effects – Plugins – Alf’s Border FX – Border Checkers, with these settings:

but with the vertical slide set to 0


27. Edit – Paste – Paste as new layer (the double, mirrored part of your 1024x300 image should still be in your puter’s memory)


28. Image – Resize, with the option ‘resize all layers’ NOT checked and height set to 220

29. Effects – Plugins – Eye Candy 3.1 – Perspective shadow, with these settings:

FIRST set it to ‘classic’, and THEN change the other settings

On the shadow color: click on the color, and put the dark color in that you chose earlier



30. Move tool, and move your image layer so it’s nicely in the middle of the bigger white part at the top of the background layer, and a little bit towards the top so the top of the image is in line with the bottom of the white blocks (as in the preview below):



31. Opacity on the layer palette: set back to about 80%


32. Layers – Merge – Merge visible


33. With the Shift key held and Magic wand chosen, click on the two white parts (see preview):



34. Effects – 3D Effects – Inner bevel, with these settings (set the color to the light one you chose for the background):



Do not deselect!!!!

35. Effects – FM Tile Tools – Seamless Tile, with these settings:



Do not deselect!!!

36. Effects – 3D Effects – Drop shadow, with these settings (choose as shadow color the color of your background):



37. Selections – Select none


38. Search for your frame image that you put away on point 11: Edit – Copy


39. Activate your 740x240 image, and Edit – Paste – Paste as new layer


40. Layers – Merge – Merge Visible

This image is now ready, so save it!! BUT, we still need it to make the background image with, so DO NOT YET CLOSE IT!!!


Background:


41. Activate your Crop Tool and crop out this part. Double click (or ‘ok’) once you have made the selection



42. If correct, you now have this image left:



43. Effects – Plugins – Simple – 4 Way average, ok

44. Effects – Plugins – Xero – Serious Fog, with as settings: 149 and 0


Ready to save as your background! :<))
