A main tube of your choice. The tubes I have used in both of my examples are by
Manon at
TOP
DESIGN.
PREPARATIONS:
Set your foreground color to a 'dark' color from your tube, and your background
to a light color.
Then change your foreground color to a gradient with the following settings (remember
to select 'Sunburst').

- Open a new image 1024 x 400 pixels, transparent background.
- Fill the layer with your gradient.
- Go to 'Effects / Plugins / Andrew 1 /Blur Up' and use the following settings:
- Go to 'Effects / Edge Effects /Enhance'.
- Go to 'Effects / Plugins / Filters Unlimited' and use the following settings:
- Then apply the filter 'Unplugged Tools / Transition' (default settings).
- Go to 'Selections / Load/Save Selections / Load Selection from Disk' and select
'L&K_lesShanata_sel' as shown here:
- Go again to 'Plugins / Filters Unlimited' but this time with the following
settings.
- Go again to 'Effects / Edge Effects / Enhance'.
- Select None (Ctrl + D). Minimize this image for now.
- Open the tube 'SummerLeaves_L&K_les Shanata' that you downloaded. Colorize
this tube to match your main tube and/or background ('Adjust / Hue and Saturation
/ Colorize)'.
- Go to 'Edit/Copy'.
- Open a new image 200 x 178, transparent background.
- Flood fill with your gradient.
- Go to 'Edit / Paste / Paste As New Layer'.
- DO NOT CHANGE THE PLACEMENT OF THE LEAF TUBE - LEAVE IT AS IT WAS
PASTED.
- Now go to 'Effects / Illumination Effects / Lights'. Locate the 'LK_lesShanta_1'
preset by clicking on the black arrow as shown below:
- Duplicate this layer, then rotate the new layer as shown here:
- Go again to 'Effects / Illumination Effects / Lights', but this time locate
the 'LK_lesShanata_2' preset as shown here:
- With the 'Mover Tool', place the leaf tube as shown here:
- Activate the 'Crop Tool'. And just like you did with the 'Lights' preset,
click on the black arrow and select 'L&K les shananta_bijsnijden' from the list
as shown here:
- The cropped area will then be highlighted as follows:
- Click 'Apply' (the check mark):
- Add a 1 pixel border (Symmetric), and use your dark color.
- Go to 'Edit / Copy'.
- Open a new image 218 x 218, transparent background. Then select 'Edit / Paste
/ Paste As New Layer'.
- Zoom in, and use the 'Mover Tool' to place the image precisely in the upper
right corner as shown here:
- Duplicate this layer.
- Then go to 'Image / Mirror', and then 'Image / Flip'.
- Duplicate this layer.
- With this new layer active, go to 'Image / Rotate' and use these settings:
It looks a little strange at this point, but don't move anything.
- Go to 'Effects / Image Effects / Offset' and use these settings:
- Duplicate this layer. With this new layer still active, go to 'Image / Mirror',
then 'Image / Flip'.
At this point, your image should look something like this:
- Go to 'Layers / Merge / Merge Visible'.
- With the 'Magic Wand Tool', select the 'empty' area in the middle, then Flood
Fill with your gradient.
- With your selection still active, go to 'Adjust / Blur / Gaussian Blur' =
19.
- Select None (Ctrl + D).
- Add a 30 pixel border (Symmetric), and use a color not found in your image.
- With the 'Magic Wand Tool', select the border you just added. Then Flood Fill
with your gradient.
- Add a 1 pixel border (Symmetric), and use your dark color.
- Select None (Ctrl + D).
- Copy this image ('Edit / Copy'). Go back to the 1024 x 400 background strip
that you made at the very beginning of the tutorial. Select 'Edit / Paste / Paste
As New Layer'.
- Go to 'Effects / 3D Effects / Drop Shadow' and use these settings:
- Activate your main tube. Go to 'Edit / Copy'.
Go back to your 1024 x 400 strip, then 'Edit / Paste / Paste As New Layer'. Resize
if necessary. Apply the same 'Drop Shadow' as before.
- Use the 'Mover Tool' to adjust the placement of the tube. Go to 'Layers /
Merge / Merge All (Flatten).' And then you are finished!
