FARAH

A great tutorial by L & K

You will need the following for this lesson:

Filter 'Simple' - download HERE
Filter 'Graphics Plus' - download HERE
Filter 'Eye Candy 3.1' - download HERE
Tube 'Suz_Oops' or a tube of your choice - download HERE
Script 'L_Kscript_les_Farah' - place in 'Scripts-Restricted' folder - download HERE
Note: This tutorial requires PSP 8.1 or higher (I did it in PSP 9, and it turned out fine.) I have used a different tube and different colors on this page than are used in the orginal Dutch tutorial. My results using the original tube (downloaded) and colors can be seen at the bottom of this page.
  1. Open a new image 456 x 456, white background.
  2. Go to 'Image / Add Borders', and add a 'symmetric' 1 pixel border with a color from your tube.
  3. Add another border, but this time set 'size = 20' and 'Color = white (#ffffff)'.
  4. Add another border, with 'size = 1' and 'Color = color in step 2.'
  5. Add a new raster layer ('Layers / New Raster Layer').
  6. Now you need to run the script that you downloaded. Click the 'Select Script' button (see red arrow in screen shot below), and locate the script 'L&Kscript_les Farah'. Then click on the 'Run Selected Script' button ( see 'blue arrow'). Click 'OK' in reply to any dialogue boxes that appear. Note: If you can not find the script when you follow the above steps, you can click on the 'Run Script' button (see 'black arrow'), and try to locate the script. When you find the script and click 'Open', the script will start to run.
  7. Highlight one of the visible layers, then select 'Layers / Merge / Merge Visible'.
  8. If you are not using the supplied tube, you may want to 'Colorize' the two top 'red' layers ('Adjust / Hue and Saturation / Colorize') .
  9. With the 'Merged' layer active, go to 'Effects / Plugins / Eye Candy 3.1 / Motion Trail' and use these settings:
  10. Make your 'Background' layer visible.
  11. Go to 'Image / Resize' and use these settings:
  12. Open the tube ' Suz Oops' (or a tube of your choice). Duplicate (Shift + D) and close the original. Resize the duplicate using the same settings used in step 11.
  13. Copy the tube ('Edit / Copy'), then go back to your main image, and paste the tube as a new layer ('Edit / Paste As New Layer').
  14. Use the 'Move Tool' to re-position the tube. You are finished with this image, so you can merge all your layers ('Layers / Merge / Merge All (flatten)'. Minimize this image for now.
  15. Create a new image 1024 x 450, white background.
  16. Add a new raster layer. Then run the same script used earlier (as explained in step 6).
  17. Highlight one of the visible layers, then select 'Layers / Merge / Merge Visible'. Colorize again if you did in step step 7.
  18. With the 'Merged' layer active, go to 'Effects / Plugins / Eye Candy 3.1 / Motion Trail'. Use these settings:
  19. Go to 'Effects / Plugins / Simple - Centre Tile'.
  20. And now to ' Effects / Plugins / Graphics Plus - Horizontal Mirror' and use these settings:
  21. Make sure your 'Background' layer is visible, then merge all of your layers ('Layers / Merge / Merge All (flatten)'.
  22. Copy the image you completed earlier. Then paste it in your main background strip as a new layer.
  23. Use the 'Move Tool' to re-position the image. And once again, merge all your layers.
