Preparation:

  • This tutorial has been written for a horizontal image
  • You could make this tutorial in colour, in that case you will have to colorize. We will inform during the tutorial you when to do so.
  • Find your gradient metaal-staal; following settings:

Angle 270
Repeats 0
Invert: Not checked
Style: Radial

1.OPEN a new WHITE image 1024 x 400

(you could also take a light colour from your image )

2.Layers – new layer

3.Flood fill/ find your gradient – staal-metaal

4.Effects/ Plugins / Graphics plus - Vertical mirror, ok.

5.Adjust / blur / Gaussian blur / 47

6. "If" you want to adjust the colour of the gradient metal to your own image, you have to do it now. Adjust – hue and saturation/ colorize. Pick a colour matching your image.

During the tutorial we will remind you when to repeat this.

** We didn’t colorize. **

*** NOW WE HAVE TO LOOK FOR THE PATTERN WE WILL NEED LATER ON FOR THE BACKGROUND!!! ***

7. Material Pallet – Go to material:

Switch to tab Pattern and look for the background you’ve just made.

Make sure the settings are correct:

  • Angle 0
  • Scale 100

8. Selections – load/save selection – load selection from disk – find the selection LN_les_Mazarin:

9. Now hit delete on your keyboard!!!

10. Selections – deselect!!!!

11. Effects – 3D Effects – drop shadow; following settings:

12. Layers / New layers

13. ** Activate your Status bar / View / toolbars / Status

14. Now activate your presets shapes.

  • Width 1,00
  • Only Anti alias checked

15. Start drawing the preset shape at X: 50 y: 40, where the dot is placed in the example.

Draw the preset shape till x: 630 y: 360.

16. ** If you have chosen for a colorized background, you will have to repeat: adjust – hue and saturation – colorize, same settings as before. **

17. Effects – 3D effects – same settings as in step 11.

18. Activate your selection tool – rectangle – following settings:

19. Draw a selection as in the given example:

20. Edit – cut

21. Layers – new layer!!!!!

22. Edit – paste – paste into selection.

23. On your layers palette change the blend mode to MULTIPLY

24. Selections – select none

25. Layers – new layer

26. Reverse your material, your pattern is now foreground.

27. Activate your selection tool again, same settings, rectangle.

28. Draw a rectangle like in the given example:

NOTICE THAT ALL THE SIDES ARE EQUAL!!!!!!!

29. Flood fill with your pattern.

30. DON’T DESELECT TILL THE END OF THE TUT!!!!!!!

31. ** If you have chosen for a colorized background, you will have to repeat: adjust – hue and saturation – colorize, same settings as before. **

32. Effects – 3D – drop shadow – same settings

33. Effects – plugins – border mania – frame 2; following settings:

34. Selections – modify – contract 22 pixels

35. Repeat:

Effects – Plugins – Border mania – frame 2, same settings as in step 33.

36. Repeat:

Selections – modify – contract 8 pixels

37. Activate your tube (or the one provided)

38. Edit – copy

39. On your 1024 x 400 working area

40 Edit – paste – paste into selection.

41. Effects – plugins – Border mania – frame 2, same settings

42. Selections – select none.
