Note: This tutorial requires PSP 8.1 or higher (I did it in PSP 9, and it turned out fine.) I have used a different tube and different colors on this page than are used in the orginal Dutch tutorial. The screen shots in this translation are from the Danish translation by Alice. My results using the original image (downloaded) and colors can be seen at the bottom of this page.
  1. Start a new image 1024 x 400, Transparent.
  2. Set your foreground color to 'A59691' and your background color to 'E9F8F8'.
  3. Click on 'gradient' in the 'Materials Palette' and set it to 'Foreground-Background' with the following settings:
  4. Flood Fill your image with this gradient.
  5. Go to 'Effects / Plugins / L en K landksite of wonder - L en K's Jouri' and use these settings:
  6. Then go to 'Effects / Reflection Effects / Rotating Mirror' and use these settings:
  7. Now go to 'Effects / Plugins / FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss'.
  8. Click on the 'Magic Wand' and use these settings:
  9. Click on / Select the areas shown here:
  10. Go to 'Effects / Geometric Effects / Polar Coordinates' (if you are using PSP 9, go to 'Effects / Distortion Effects / Polar Coordinates') and use these settings:
  11. Now go to 'Effects / 3D Effects / Drop Shadow' with these settings:
  12. And then 'Effects / 3D Effects / Inner Bevel' with these settings:
  13. Go the the 'Layers Palette'. Right-click on the layer 'Floating Selection', and select 'Promote Selection to Layer'.
  14. Select None (Ctrl + D).
  15. Use the 'Move Tool' to reposition the 'circle' as shown here:
  16. Lower the opacity of the layer 'Promoted Selection' to '50'.
  17. Go to 'Layers / Merge/ Merge All (Flatten)'.

The background is now finished so we can continue with the frame.
  18. Start a new image 350 x 350 / Transparent.
  19. Flood Fill with your gradient (same one used earlier).
  20. Go again to 'Effects / Plugins / L en K landksite of wonder - L en K's Jouri', but this time use these settings:
  21. Now go to 'Effects / Reflection Effects / Rotating Mirror' and use the same settings used earlier (step 6).
  22. Go to 'Selections / Select All'.
  23. Then to 'Selections / Modify / Contract = 48'.
  24. Locate the image you are going to place inside your frame, and then select 'Edit / Copy'. Go back to your 'frame', and select 'Edit / Paste / Paste Into Selection'.
  25. Add a new raster layer.
  26. Flood Fill this new layer with your gradient.
  27. Go to 'Effects / Plugins / L en K landksite of wonder - L en K's Jouri' and use these settings:
  28. Then go to 'Effects / Reflection Effects / Rotating Mirror' and use the same settings as before.
  29. Now go to 'Effects / Plugins / Cybia - Alpha Works':

    • Choose 'Photo Whiteout - Remove from Colour Image'.
    • Go to the 'Transparency Range'. My setting is '100', but with other colors it is different. Some need 40, while others need 140 or higher. You may have to try this 2 or 3 times before you get it adjusted correctly.
    • Notice in the screen shot below that it is the middle section that should be transparent.
  30. Go to 'Layers / Merge / Merge All (Flatten)'.
  31. Now go to 'Effects / Plugins / Bordermania - Frame #2' and use these settings:
  32. Go to 'Selections / Invert'. Go again to 'Effects / Plugins / Bordermania' (same settings). Click 'ok'. Keep the selection active!
  33. Go to 'Effects / Plugins / Alf Border FX - Border Fade I' and use these settings:
  34. Select None (Ctrl + D).
  35. Now you can copy your frame onto your background image that you made earlier. Go to 'Edit / Copy', then go to the background image and select 'Edit / Paste / Paste As New Layer'. Use the 'Move Tool' to reposition the frame. Finally, go to 'Layers / Merge / Merge All (Flatten).
